Made in Germany - made by Schneider Kreuznach A graduated ND filter is necessary when you are photographing a scene with large differences in brightness. One half of the filter is grey the other half is clear. The grey part runs smoothly into the clear part. Bright parts of an image are darkened by the grey part of the filter. That way the subject can be properly exposed so that the bright portion doesn't look washed-out. The contrast of the bright part is heightened. The colour reproduction is not affected.
