This Diffusion Dome is coated silver on the inside of the rear part. Therefore the largest amount of light moves forward and is of course scattered. Thus the flash is no longer so hard and the photographs look more natural. Part of the light is scattered to the ceiling therefore an overall better, more natural effect is achieved and most of all ugly hard shadows are brightened.
